The Jeans That Made Me Feel Like Myself Again (Even With a Broken Foot)
An unexpected wardrobe discovery, a hot-pink cast, and a little reminder that personal style doesn't have to disappear when life gets complicated.

Well, this wasn't exactly how I planned to accessorize for fall, Y'ALL.
After breaking my foot in September, I've spent the better part of a month navigating life with a cast, a wheelchair, and a whole new appreciation for things I used to take for granted.
Including getting dressed.

As someone whose career has involved everything from restaurant openings and red carpets to roadside diners and spontaneous road trips, I've always believed what we wear should make us feel like ourselves.
But try pulling on a pair of jeans over a cast. Go ahead. I'll wait.
Enter Democracy Clothing.
I recently became a brand ambassador, and four pairs of jeans arrived during a season when my wardrobe options were considerably more limited than usual.
And wouldn't you know it? The itty-bitty bootcut silhouette turned out to be a particularly welcome discovery. I often opt for boot cut bc it helps give this chica some curves, and in this case, the wider opening made these jeans a much more practical option for navigating my cast than some of the other styles in my closet.
There's something wonderfully defiant about finding a little joy in getting dressed when life has temporarily taken away so much of your independence.

I've spent years encouraging people to try the restaurant, take the trip, order the dessert, and wear the outfit.
Turns out I needed a little of my own advice.
That's what A Life Well Fed means to me. Not a perfectly curated existence, but a life in which we keep making room for the things that bring us joy, even when circumstances change.
And if that joy happens to arrive in the form of a really good pair of jeans?
I'll take four.
